Tefaf New York (Fall Edition) In its autumnal edition, between November 1-5, more than 90 companies from the Art World, antiques and design exhibited in the Armory “museum quality” pieces, decorative arts as well as jewelry, manuscripts, books and much more. The main difference with previous editions was the commitment to “cross collecting”: or juxtapose works of antiquity with contemporary ones.
Doris Salcedo won the Nomura Art Prize
The Colombian artist Doris Salcedo has won the inaugural $1m Nomura Art Award, the largest cash prize for contemporary art in the world. In comparison, this year’s UK Turner Prize winner, due to be announced 3 December, will receive £25,000; the French artist Éric Baudelaire won €35,000 earlier this month after bagging the Prix Marcel Duchamp, France’s biggest art prize.
