15 Dic Variety in the auction of December of Goya Subastas

Goya Subastas is a classic Madrid house, which locates its headquarters in C / Montesa, 31. In this month of December they will celebrate their traditional Christmas auction on the 17th and 18th, with a varied selection of lots: from antique painting to furniture, passing for sculpture or jewelry. Undoubtedly, a catalog that is open to all types of audiences and tastes. Do not miss it! We now show you a selection of the best lots of the auction, for which you can bid by clicking on the name or photo of the work.

We started with a work of ancient painting, a triptych of the late fifteenth century, Spanish School, made in oil and gold on wood. In the central panel we can see a representation of Saint Martín of Tours, while on the sides we find Saint Bernard and Saint James, the Virgin with Christ child and Saint Anne, the representation of “Noli me tangere” and lamentation. In the closing panels we see representations in grisaille of saints with phylacteries. The central panel measures 176 x 136 cm, while the sides are 176 x 69 cm: both with a gilt and carved frame in Gothic style. It will be auctioned for € 90,000 (see).

We continue with a work attributed to Francisco Herrera “El Mozo” (Seville, 1627 – Madrid, 1685), an oil on canvas entitled God the Father (110 x 89 cm). Its starting price is € 12,000 (see). It is followed by contemporary painting, among which the work of Julián de Tellaeche Aldasoro (Vergara, Guipúzcoa, 1884 – Lima, Peru, 1957) stands out. It is titled Young sailor dressed in white (71 x 71 cm), and is an oil on cardboard. It will go on sale for € 25,000 (see). Finally, we see the presence of José María de Ucelay (Bermeo, Vizcaya, 1903 – Busturia, 1979), with Still life with a vase of flowers and books (50 x 54 cm). It is an oil on canvas, which is signed, titled and dated on the back of the work. It goes to auction for € 15,000 (see).

We now enter the sculptural section, which highlights the work of Angelo Coggiola (1768 – 1831), Classic lady sitting with phylactery (114 x 63 x 104 cm). This work is a marble sculpture, signed by the artist, which will be auctioned for € 15,000 (see). We can not ignore, of course, the presence of Pedro de Mena (Granada, 1628 – Málaga, 1688), which is attributed this sculpture of San Antonio de Padua (60 cm without pedestal), carved and painted in wood. It will be auctioned for € 9,000 (see).

As for the furniture, we could say that it is one of the most interesting sections of the Goya auction this month. It emphasizes especially a console style Luis XIV in ormolu, brass, shell of tortoiseshell and marquetry, of around 1714. Measures 86 x 66.5 x 133 cm. It goes to auction for € 20,000 (see). Accompanied by a Spanish bargueño carved and gilded wood, from around the mid-seventeenth century. It measures 64 x 41 x 105 cm the part of the bargueño, while the taquillón measures 81 x 47 x 112 cm. It goes to auction for € 15,000 (see). We closed the furniture with a pair of carved and gilded rectangular mirrors, possibly coming from Maison Jansen, at the end of 1960. They measure 183 x 106 cm, and go out to auction for 9,000 € (see).

We finish this selection with a complete edition of The Disasters of the War by Francisco de Goya (Fuendetodos, 1746 – Bordeaux, 1828). It includes the 80 original prints of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, owner of the plates, of Madrid in 1906. They will go on sale for € 9,000 (see).
